Updated 8/8/08The 2007-2008 season we have a new president, Brian Corcoran. Brian brings a lot of energy and new ideas to the program. Thanks to John Morency who ran the program the past two years. Here in Beverly we keep our fingers crossed that a new rink will be built. The program is looking into a long term Goalie clinic to cater to those insane individuals who like to dress between the pipes. We continue to work with the High School coaches so we can have a first class feeder program to bring hockey glory back to Beverly. One of our Alumni, Mike Wonoski, earned a Gold Medal for the USA in the World Deaf Olympic's held in Utah. Mike had two game winning goals and we are very proud of the work he has done. The 2006-2007 season we have great hope that our program continue to grow and have success. The playoffs last year were HUGE for Beverly and hard work and dedication will payoff when we come upon April and the end of the season. We have some new board members that bring more vigor and energy to keep Beverly the best program around. 2005-2006 brings more changes to Beverly Youth Hockey. We have a new President, John Morency who will lead our league for the next two years. Thanks to Stu Spencer for serving as President the last two years. We still have some growing pains but the season looks to be another exciting one. Many of the players attended the High School games last year, a team that had a fabulous season and made it to the semi finals for the first time in 27 years. Coach Bob Gilligan of the High School made some fun events for the players to be on ice with some of the High School Panthers and they were very memorable to the BYH players. Hopefully this trend will continue for the FUTURE high school players. The 2005-2006 season is over and the program had tremendous success in the past season. 7 of 9 teams made it to the Valley League finals. Two won their divisions and the others came up just short, winning second place. In addition 6 Beverly players were named MVP for their divisions in the playoffs. Hats off to Andy Brown, Brendan Mitchell, Pat Porter, Brendan Boyle, Clinton Cabral, Bryce Pietrini. Great job! Beverly finished up runner up in the total medal count, and this was going against towns with as many as 3 times the amount of teams. What an achievement for the players and coaches who give 100% to make our program one of the best around. Hopefully 2006-2007 will be even more successful for the program. In 2004 Beverly Warriors changed their name to the Beverly Panthers. These changes are intended to both bridge the gap with the High School team and re energize our kids. Please come and cheer them on wearing their new Orange and Black uniforms. Beverly Youth Hockey was formed in 1993. During the nine years prior, Beverly and Peabody shared resources as the Peabody/Beverly Youth Hockey Association. As a result of a deep desire to have Beverly kids play on Beverly teams both parents and coaches joined together to start an all Beverly program. After a successful year of running a "Learn to Skate" program as well as sponsoring two teams playing "unofficial scrimmage games", Beverly Youth Hockey was accepted as a new member of USA Mass. Hockey, the organization that oversees youth hockey in the state. In 1994 the new Beverly Youth Hockey Organization was formed. The teams were known as the Beverly Warriors. Beverly Youth Hockey is a recreational ice hockey league for girls and boys. The program has been an important part of the community offering Ice Hockey for hundreds of kids. The program includes players from Learn to Skate through Midgets. Currently there are over 150 players in the program. Our mission is to both teach the players the necessary skills of hockey, and to insure that the experience is enjoyable and memorable. We strive to enforce fair play and sportsmanship from each and every player as well as an appreciation of ice hockey that will last a lifetime. Our volunteers and coaches are extremely dedicated to the program. Whether you have years of hockey experience or just beginning, we offer multiple teams that suit your age and skill level and most importantly, we will make the experience of playing hockey a lot of fun. GO PANTHERS! |
